Candlelight memorial remembers lives lost to AIDS

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) — For the 29th straight year, local organizers hosted the International Aids Candlelight Memorial.

Around 50 people took part in the memorial held at the Reno City Plaza.
This year’s theme was ‘Reflecting on our Past, Preparing for our Future.’ The event is designed to remember and never forget those who died from the disease.
Organizers says 35 million people have died from aids, but the disease is still a big problem.
“It’s still a very much big concern especially for young individuals under the age of 24. They are the leading groups of new infections every year,” said Robert Harding, President of Northern Nevada outreach team.
